Subject:- Reckless Driving - a Menace
Sir,
Through the columns of your esteemed daily newspaper, I would like to invite the attention of the public towards the increasing number of road accidents due to negligent and reckless driving. There never passes a day without a number of serious and fatal road accidents. Not only the young boys in tgeir teens but also mature and responsible persons take pride in driving their two wheelers blindly and at break neck speed. They jump the Red Lights without caring a fig for the lives of their Own or of the others. It seems they have become allergic to safe driving.
Drinking has become the order of the day. Almost all the drivers are drunkards and a few of them drink even at breakfast. As a result the number of reckless drivers has swollen. The policemen are either away from their place of duty or they shrink their duty of checking the youngmen wilfully. There is neither a strict vigil by traffic police nor is there a Thorough and systematic checking of those persons who drive without valid licences.
I suggest that a Safe Driving Week should be observerd every year to educate the people in this direction. The publicilty media should also be utilized for this purpose.
Thanking you
Yours faithfully
Rakesh Sharma
